Facilities

Built in 1959, the school's appearance is pleasing and well groomed. Students feel proud of their school and contribute to its cleanliness.

Providing safe and well-maintained schools is a top priority for the school district and the Wegeforth community. To ensure that all classrooms and facilities are maintained in a manner that supports instruction, a scheduled maintenance program is administered by the district.

To further support learning, a variety of tutoring areas, such as tables with umbrellas and resource rooms are available. A literacy garden, which adjoins the learning center, supports students who choose to read during recess.

Teachers have access to a centralized workroom, reading resource room, staff-development room, a multi-purpose media room, and a room for adaptive physical education.

Improvements have been ongoing since the passage of funding from Proposition S. Improvements completed includea beautiful library, a professional development room complete with technology for instruction, umbrellas to shade students while they study outside at picnic tables, supplies for our emergency kits, security screens on the kindergarten classrooms, which brings cool air into the classrooms, a professional dance studio wherein all students study dance, a large container to house equipment for our comprehensive fitness program, a computerized sign-in system to increase campus security, and additional lighting to improve campus security. Additional work will include the installation of a watering system for the above-ground planters that are an integral part of our science and health curriculum.

The school's location is convenient to both the 805 and 15 freeways. Its proximity to the Serra Mesa Public Library and the Eastern Division Police Station make it conducive to students learning in and about the community in which they live.
